Busy Week

This week has stretched me in ways I never thought possible. I am working with a teacher who really does not understand the term organized and in doing so am finally learning that things might not get done.

Trying to bring in the garden and get all that goodness processed is taking my free time on weekends as well. Yesterday I froze about 1/2 our turnips and all our beets. Then today did about 1/2 a row of carrots, and froze some green peppers for use in stews, soups and spaghetti sauce. I picked tomatoes, eggplant and cukes as well. I had some bananas that were over ripe so decided to make some banana bread. Two lovely loaves are cooling on my counter.

In talking to our youngest son, Kris, on Thursday I was informed that he could not fix our old computer. I really have trouble using this lap top and downloading pictures is a problem. Harvey and I decided that perhaps the best thing would be to get a new one with the same bells and whistles that the old one had. So tomorrow it is off to Regina, pick up Kris and we are heading to Future Shop to pick up a new one. I will be relieved to actually be able to see what I am typing, and to download pictures of what I have been up to.

I can sure tell that fall is coming quickly. The temperatures have dropped, the days are getting shorter and the garden is quickly coming to an end. Last year we went directly from summer to winter so I sure hope we have fall this year. So far no colour changes in the trees yet, but I am looking forward to their fall display.

Well off to visit everyone. Everybody have a wonderful evening. God bless.

Jackie,

I am sure that it will stretch you to the limit working with a teacher who has no organizational skills. It will be difficult.

Sounds like you are harvesting your garden and doing a good job of it too. Kudoos to you, my friend. Canning and freezing is a great way to cut food costs in winter.

Thanks for commenting on my autism post this evening. Children who are on the autism spectrum certainly need someone loving and patient to help them learn. So glad that child has you.

The days here are hot but the nights are cool enough for a jacket. I sure hope we have a long fall because I dread the thought of winter setting in.

Blessings,
Mary

WOW! you have been busy. I love the fall colors but here in California it is very rare. I have two tree that loose there leaves and I just had to have them taken out because of all the suckers. I had about 50 sprouts of trees in my back yard when we got home from Arizona a couple of weeks ago. I can just smell your banana bread.
Jackie I wish you all the luck with the new teacher.
Hugs,

Good luck with your new computer. If this is just the beginning of the school year and the teacher is so unorganized, it doesn't sound good. But, maybe it will get better. Let's hope so.

Hi Jackie,
Sounds like your busy. I hope you found a computer you like. I think I need cooking tips from you. Your blog always makes my mouth water (any tips on how to cook asparagus?) Good luck with school! :)

Hi Jackie,
The sound of all those lovely things coming from your garden is wonderful! I did my first half hour of gardening in a year, about 2 weekends ago, and cleared an area about the size of a placemat!! I think I've got a long way to go!!!
But good news on the circle journal front... I've finally got it sent off to you, together with a couple of extras- hope you like 'em!!! I guess it may reach you in a week or so. Hopefully by then your computer woes will be history!!
Blessings! Juliet.

I'm with you. Give me some Fall please. It is my favorite season. Luckily August was cooler than normal this year so summer doesn't seem to be lingering as long. I would like it if we had no temperatures below 60 in the daytime and 50 at night for about 6 weeks. I love football(college) so that is what I look forward to in the Fall as well as beautiful foilage on the trees, harvest festivals, pumpkin and being able to go for walks without sweating.
I am anxious to tour my new neighborhood. Maybe I'll get a walk over there next week.
